Dr. Isabel Hwang (Standing) shares her experience in the eLearning Sharing Session

Participation in the eLearning Sharing Session and Workshop organized by the Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Dr. Isabel Hwang, Senior Lecturer of our Teaching and Learning (T&L) Unit, was invited as one of the speakers giving a talk in the eLearning Sharing Session held on 26 January 2017 at the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building, followed by sharing of some practical skills in another eLearning workshop held on 22 February 2017 at the Prince of Wales Hospital. Both sharing session and workshop were organized by the Office of Medical Education (OME), Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

Dr. Hwang shared her experience on the topic “A Teacher’s Experience: How Blended Learning and Flipped Classroom can be facilitated via Topic-Specific eLearning Tools” in the Sharing Session. Apart from Dr. Hwang, several speakers from the University and the Faculty of Medicine also gave talks on several topics related to “eLearning”. Speakers included Prof. Cecilia Chun, Director of Centre for Learning Enhancement and Research (CLEAR), Prof. Alan Cheung, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies), Prof. Wilfred Lau and Dr. Paul Sze from the Faculty of Education, Prof. Shekhar Kumta, Assistant Dean (Education) of the Faculty of Medicine. Together with Prof. Kumta, Dr. Hwang further shared at another eLearning Workshop “Constructing Micro-modules for eLearning” on 22 February 2017, in which a few authoring software for constructing interactive eLearning materials were introduced and participants could experience some quick hands-on practice on using eLearning software.

With our active participation in promoting eLearning in the University, it is hoped that more innovative pedagogies will be adopted in teaching so that students’ learning experience can be continually strengthened and enhanced.
