  Mission The 1st International Conference on Frontiers of Regenerative Medicine and Biomedical Science Held

Organized by Jinan University, hosted by Key CUHK-Jinan Laboratory of Regenerative Medicine, Ministry of Education ("International Cooperation Base, Ministry of Science" and the "Key Research Institutions, International Cooperation Science and Technology Department of Guangdong Province"), the 1st International Conference on Frontiers of Regenerative Medicine and Biomedical Science was held on May 13-14, 2010 on the third floor of multi-functional auditorium at the Medical School of Jinan University. Deputy Director Chen Xin of Science and Technology Department of Guangdong Province, Jinan University President Hu Jun, Vice Presidents Lu Daxiang, Liu Jiesheng, and directors from International Affairs Office, Science and Technology Office, College of Life Science and Technology, as well as invited experts and delegates attended the opening ceremony. President Hu Jun delivered the welcoming speech and Chen Xin addressed the meeting, congratulating on the opening of the conference. The opening ceremony was presided by Vice President Liu Jiesheng.  The meeting invited from the United States, Britain, Russia, Japan, Canada, Poland, mainland China and Hong Kong and Taiwan and other countries and regions a total of 37 well-known experts. Alan Garen, the discoverer of the three termination codons of protein encoding, one of the main founders of modern molecular biology, academician of American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and of United States National Academy of Sciences, and tenured professor of Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, Yale University, was invited to attend this meeting as keynote speaker. During the meeting experts exchanged widely and discussed lively on medical topics, including aging and regeneration mechanisms, progress in stem cell research, applied research of cell and tissue transplantation and regeneration, as well as progress in frontier areas of biology and medical science.  The two-day international seminar attracted nearly 600 experts, scholars and students from Zhongshan University, South China Normal University, Guangzhou Medical College, Hunan Agricultural University and other universities in and outside the province.
