Wang Hanbo, Ph.D. Graduate
Dr. Wang Hanbo received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) in 2017. During his study of Ph.D., Dr. Wang participated in the “The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) – National Institutes of Health (NIH) Graduate Partnership Program” and studied in the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), U.S.A. for four years under the joint supervision of Prof. Woody W.Y. Chan from SBS and Dr. Gisela Storz from NICHD.

Apart from engaging in scientific research during the four-year study in NICHD, Dr. Wang obtained a certificate in biotechnology commercialization in NIH, which widened his knowledge of applied biomedical research in industrial and business sectors. Also, he served as Vice-president of NIH Consulting Club and Co-chair of NIH Chinese Scientist and Scholar Association, where he could build up professional network with health care community, paving the way for developing his career in commercial biotechnology.

With his professional background and international exposure through the “CUHK-NIH Graduate Partnership Program”, Dr. Wang was hired by QuintilesIMS, the world’s largest biomedical professional service and consulting firm with businesses conducted in over 100 countries. He is now stationed in their branch office in Shanghai and mainly engages in global business development of domestic biotechnology companies with specific focus on global commercialization of innovative products developed in China. Dr. Wang has chosen to pursue in the field of health care consultancy and considers it as a good start for his long-term career development.
