Outreach and Promotional Activities for the BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme
The BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme (BSc Programme) arranged several activities and visits between September and December 2017, including:

  • Visit to HEC Pharm, China, on 23 Sep 2017: A total of 34 School members, including 26 Year 2 undergraduate students and 5 postgraduate students, together with 8 members from the School of Life Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, joined the visit. Participants were briefed on the company background and current development, followed by a guided tour of its research and development laboratories.
  • Career Talk by Dr. Erik Wong on 15 Dec 2017: As a consultant on professional development programs, Dr. Wong shared with our Undergraduate and Postgraduate students employers’ expectations about a graduate and how our students could equip and prepare themselves for the job market.

By arranging such activities, it is hoped that our students could have more exposure to the current market, so as to facilitate them in making wise decision when planning for their future career paths.

To continually promote the BSc Programme, the School also engaged in various events with a view to enhancing secondary school students’ interest in biomedical sciences:

  • Participated in the Orientation Day for Undergraduate Admissions 2017 of The Chinese University of Hong Kong on 21 Oct 2017: Similar to last year, a total of 7 admission talks for the BSc Programme were conducted in the Orientation Day, and attracted over 1,000 audiences throughout the day. Laboratory tours at the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building were also arranged for the participants, thus enhancing their understanding on how the study of our Programme would be supported by the School’s cutting-edge equipment and facilities. (The corresponding coverage by the Communications and Public Relations Office can be viewed HERE.)
  • Programme consultation session, demonstration and workshop, as well as a core laboratories tour for 20 students from St Paul’s Co-Educational College on 21 Nov 2017.

With the continuous efforts to further promote our BSc Programme, we anticipate more high caliber and promising students will get admitted to the Programme in the academic year of 2019-2020 and beyond.
