Led by members of the School of Biomedical Sciences, three research proposals have been selected for the Research Grants Council (RGC) Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) 2023-24.

Prof. Stephen K.W. Tsui, Professor and Associate Director (Research) of our School, was awarded the Collaborative Research Equipment Grant (CREG) with a total of HK$7.3 million for the project named "A Long-read and high throughput DNA sequencing platform for studying genomic landscapes and metagenomics involvement in human diseases". In addition, Prof. So Hon-cheong and Prof. Tian Xiaoyu, both Associate Professors of our school received the Young Collaborative Research Grant (YCRG). Prof. So was awarded a total of HK$4.67 million for the project entitled “Uncovering the Whole Spectrum of Genetic Variations Underlying Schizophrenia and its Prognosis: A Whole-genome Sequencing (WGS) Study and Prediction Modeling with Machine Learning Approaches”. Prof. Tian received a total of HK$3.66 million. The grant will support her research proposal entitled "Intercepting the Mitochondrial-to-Nuclear Communication for Treatment of Vascular Inflammation and Atherosclerosis".

The Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) supports multi-investigator and multidisciplinary research groups in the University Grants Committee (UGC)-funded universities. It encourages more research groups to engage in creative, high-quality, cross-disciplinary projects. We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Prof. So, Prof. Tian and Prof. Tsui for their remarkable achievement in securing the CRF. This recognition reflects their unwavering dedication and commitment to research.

生物醫學學院成員領導的三項合作研究項目成功獲取香港研究資助局（研資局）2023/24年度協作研究金資助。

本學院教授及副院長（研究）徐國榮教授以題為「用於研究基因組景觀和宏基因組參與人類疾病的長讀和高通量 DNA 測序平台」的研究項目，獲取港幣730萬的協作研究設備補助金資助。副教授蘇漢昌教授及田小雨教授則成功獲得新進學者協作研究補助金資助。蘇漢昌教授以題為「揭示精神分裂症及其預後的整個遺傳變異譜：全基因組測序(WGS)研究和機器學習方法的預測建模」的研究項目獲取港幣467萬港幣補助金，而田小雨教授憑藉「阻斷線粒體與細胞核通訊信號作為治療血管炎症和動脈粥樣硬化的新策略」的研究項目，成功獲得港幣366萬補助金。

協作研究金旨在資助由多名學者合作的跨學科研究項目，希望鼓勵研究單位進行更多具創意及高質素的跨學科／跨學院研究項目。我們衷心祝賀蘇教授、田教授及徐教授，這次獲得資助充分彰顯了他們對科研工作的努力不懈和付出。
