Following the delegation visit of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) to Yantai, China as invited by the municipal government of Yantai in April 2018, a delegation comprising three representatives of the Yantai Economic & Technological Development Area (YEDA) paid a follow-up visit to SBS on 10 May 2018.

Upon arrival, the delegation met with Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of SBS first, and was briefed on the recent research and development of biomedical sciences and technology in the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Being the Scientific Advisor of YEDA appointed by the YEDA Management Committee, Prof. Chan shared his views on the strategies that could be adopted by YEDA to strengthen and improve the development of pharmaceutical industries in Yantai. The meeting was followed by a tour of our Core Laboratories led by Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee, Managing Director of the Core Laboratories and Chief of the Developmental and Regenerative Biology Thematic Research Program. As coordinated by SBS, the representatives were also arranged to pay another visit to the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), aiming to explore collaboration opportunities between HKSTP and the pharmaceutical companies in Yantai.

Through connecting CUHK, HKSTP and the biopharmaceutical companies in Yantai, it is our hope that it can further foster and facilitate academia-industry partnership and knowledge transfer of CUHK’s biomedical sciences and technology.

自2018年4月生物醫學學院獲中國山東省煙台市政府邀請到煙台市訪問，煙台市煙台經濟技術開發區三位代表於2018年5月10日到本學院作跟進訪問。

訪問團到達本學院後，首先與院長陳偉儀教授會面。會議中，陳教授向各人講解香港中文大學在生物醫學及科技的研究及發展。作為煙台經濟技術開發區管理委員會聘任的「煙台經濟技術開發區科學顧問」，陳教授更在會議中提出就煙台經濟技術開發區可採取的發展策略的看法，以加強及提升煙台市生物製藥業的長遠發展方向。會議完結後，代表團獲安排由生物醫學學院中心實驗室營運總監暨發育及再生生物學主題研究組主任李嘉豪教授帶領參觀本學院中心實驗室。在本學院的安排下，訪問團同日隨即前往香港科技園公司，並與科技園公司代表見面，尋求安排煙台市生物製藥公司與香港科技園公司的合作機會。

本院期望能協助聯繫中大、香港科技園公司及煙台市的生物製藥公司，相信定能促進及有利於學術界及業界建立夥伴合作關係，以及中大在生物醫學及科技方面的知識轉移。
